Building work has now finished on the Abbeyfield Society’s new apartments at Burnham Court, Malmesbury. The 49 flat development provides the area with both much needed older person’s accommodation and a wide range of community facilities for Malmesbury’s over 55s.

These include a large communal lounge, activities room, restaurant, hair salon, nail bar and landscaped gardens, all of which are open to the wider community in line with the charity’s desire to build a social hub for the older people of Malmesbury.

17 of the flats go on sale on May 16, and the remaining 32 are available to rent. Interest in the flats can be registered now on the Homes4Wiltshire website.

Abbeyfield Business Manager and Burnham Court project lead, Gary Hortop said: “We are delighted that we’re now able to show prospective residents around this wonderful new development.

“Not only are we pleased to be able to address the need for care and tackle social isolation amongst the older community in this area, but also to bring people together at this wonderful facility in line with our charity’s founding ethos.

“We’d like to thank the constructors, Bouygues, Wiltshire Council and the Homes and Communities Agency for their support in bringing this project to fruition.”
