Dorothy Margaret Rose Driscoll, known throughout her life as Marge, has died at the age of 82, having lived in Wootton Bassett all her life.
Her father worked on a farm and the Andow family lived in one of the cottages which stood alongside the main road near Skew Bridge at Hunts Mill. These once familiar homes were demolished some years ago.
After leaving the council school (now the county infants) during the Second World War, she cycled daily to Swindon to work at Comptons factory.
In later years she worked at the dairy which for many years was Wootton Bassett's major employer.
She and her husband Sydney had two children, Kathleen and Gordon, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs Driscoll, who was widowed in 2002, spent the past three years at Ridgeway House in Wootton Bassett.

After becoming ill in November she was admitted to hospital, and although she was able to go home in January, she never really recovered her old self and she died peacefully in the Great Western Hospital.
Her funeral was held at St Bartholomew's Church and was taken by the Very Rev Brian Horlock who offered prayers for all Mrs Driscoll's family, including those in America.
She was interred at Wootton Bassett Cemetery.
Memorial cheques, for Prospect Hospice, may be sent to Maslin Funeral Service, 118a High Street, Wootton Bassett.
