THE face of innocence can be seen in these regular soldiers, pictured in 1914 a few months before the outbreak of the First World War. The picture was found by David Hill, 89, who lived in the Devizes area for more than 40 years before moving to Trowbridge. He found the picture, which was taken by Bulford Barracks Studio, behind a photograph of a sphinx which belonged to his father. It would be the last photograph ever taken of many of the soldiers.
