Wiltshire post offices to close

Royal Mail has this morning announced which Wiltshire Post Offices will close.

The ill-fated branches include Kington St Michael, Lowden in Chippenham and Prospect in Corsham.

Towards the north of the county, Bradenstoke, Charlton and Lea are also now set to close.

In Kennet area the axe will fall on Erlestoke, London Road, Marlborough and Manniford Bruce, near Pewsey. In Swindon those to be closed are Cheney Manor Road, Lawn, Lydiard Millicent and Westcott Place.

Meanwhile, Hullavington Post Office has been earmarked for conversion to an outreach-type Post Office.

There's been a stay of execution for Lacock, Avebury and Yatton Keynell Post Offices following fervent campaigning from villagers and politicians.

All three are still being considered for outreach services and will be subject to further review from Postwatch.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: "Outreach service is an innovative way to continue to provide you with Post Office products and services in some of the locations where we may need to close a branch."
