The college, which has campuses in Trowbridge, Lackham, Chippenham and Salisbury,  is running courses in subjects as diverse as botany, Russian, beekeeping, counselling, breadmaking, electrical installation and photography.

Devizes student Julie Jenner who attended a photography course at the college even had one of her photographs selected for the front cover of the prospectus.

She said: “When I heard about it I was amazed! I took the photo in my garden back in September; it was quite early on in the course.

“I had a new compact digital camera and wanted to learn how to use it properly. I saw the Basic Digital Photography course in the prospectus, which sounded perfect.

“I loved the course, the college and the tutor was brilliant. I was unemployed at the time and felt a bit down in the dumps so the photography projects that we were set each week gave me a focus.

“The course has really boosted my confidence and I’m now hoping to enrol on the Creative Digital Photography course and continue my new hobby!”

Devizes Centre Manager, Laura Totney, said: “I’m so proud of Julie. It’s great to be able to promote the courses in the prospectus by showing people what they can achieve. The colourful flower draws the attention in – it’s great for the front cover.”

Courses are run all over Wiltshire at the four main campuses at Chippenham, Lackham, Trowbridge and Salisbury as well as three learning centres in Warminster, Corsham and Devizes. Selected courses are also offered at the Bemerton Heath Neighbourhood Centre in Salisbury.

Copies of the prospectus are available from any college campus and centre, or from libraries across the county.

To view a copy online, visit www.wiltshire.ac.uk where there is more detailed course information and many can now be booked and paid for online.

NO wonder they have to use the press to advertise their very LATE prospectus! And even if you apply for a place now, it is not guaranteed that it will run; so why not put out the plans 6 months before? they might actually attract more people and may improve their income and stop laying off staff?!

When will they stop employing managers and put their money into front line staff as the NHS is suppose to do? And why do the managers not have their employment benefits cut? they don't have the pressures of 'teaching' so can manage their own pressure. Teachers (here & else where) have to manage the awkward students every day, all day, and only get tongue in the cheek support from managers. The teachers are the important ones! (PS I am Not a Teacher/Lecturer, just a student)
