• Why promote store?

  Michael Gray makes good points (letters, September 4) about the detrimental effects of an out of town supermarket. The town council seems to be actively promoting this - what mandate does it have for such a policy? read more

• Plan beggars belief

  The proposal to develop land for very large-scale housing opposite the business park and adjacent to the A346 Salisbury Road in Marlborough beggars belief. read more

• Carnival fun for free

  I wish to endorse the comments by Robin Lane in last week's Gazette. I think the bank holiday Monday celebrations, the confetti battle, fireworks and the super carnival were just great and all of this for nothing. Well done to all the organisers. read more

• Town improvements

  The additional buildings fronting Curzon Street (East) - that very narrow section - are a big improvement on the old concrete-covered wall that stood there recently and the architects and St Mary's School governors are to be congratulated on the achievement. read more

• Xtra special week of summer activities

  I write regarding the article in the Gazette on September 4, regarding Camp Xtra which took place at Devizes School from August 18 to 22, the same week as Kennet District Council's Camp Activate. read more

• Festival has good vibe

  We recently performed our show Monkey Bizness at the Devizes Street Festival and just wanted to say thank you to Dave Buxton and all those involved in organising the festival (they even managed to get the sun to shine). read more

• Range of shops plea

  What a pity a local resident in a secure job in the tourist industry puts tourism before local people, who now have to tighten their belts or shop elsewhere. read more

• Is booze ban fair?

  I am writing a belated response to the article in the Gazette on the August 15, No booze or late carnival entries' with regards to Pewsey carnival. read more

• Location will hinder station reopening

  I am writing in response to the discussion about a potential railway station in Marlborough. There is nothing wrong with the idea, and it is no surprise that nearly 80 per cent of those responding to your poll were in favour. read more
