I am sure you have many readers like Lorraine Mundy of Easterton who agree that the council's policy on litter bins is totally unacceptable. It does put a new meaning on "Keeping Kennet Special". read more
Please Mr Gray please don't rain on our parade (letters, May 1). read more
I would like to write on behalf of the North West Wiltshire Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale to thank the 1,798 people who attended our 17th Chippenham Beer Festival for their support in making this one of the most successful events. read more
On Saturday I went to Westlea Housing Association and the police's attempt to reduce anti-social behaviour by providing the youth of Chippenham with something else to do, known as Bluez n' Zuz, situated centrally at the Olympiad, with a £2 entrance fee from 7pm to 9.30pm. read more
The situation surrounding the gypsies living in Minety is clearly a very delicate one. read more
On behalf of the Melksham, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust, I would like to thank everyone who supported our recent sponsored walk. read more
On the local news bulletin for the West Country on BBC's TV Breakfast news recently there was an item describing the fact that £3 million was being spent on rebuilding (not renovating) three huts/hangars at RAF Yatesbury, due to their historic interest'. read more
I would like to refer to an item in the Gazette and Herald on May 1, page 61 "Kennet making places for the future". I doubt very few readers will have noticed it. read more
So now we are witnessing garden grabbing' in Avebury are we, as well as Bottlesford? (£300,000 in Bottlesford for the bottom half of a back garden against a railway line, but with planning permission of course). Now Avebury, and against many official objections? What can one say? "Keeping Kennet Special" did we read on the planning department's letterhead? They just have to be joking. The sooner they are gone for good, the better. read more
I found Tony Gray's letter of May 1 to be misguided in the extreme. I assisted the excellent school fund-raising team in organising Stuart Pearce to attend the turf cutting at St. John's. read more
I was disappointed to read Tony Gray's letter in last week's Gazette & Herald. After almost ten years in the planning and with many barriers to overcome, we are proud to be able to celebrate the commencement of work on our new school, and are excited that one of our most well-known local residents has agreed to cut the first turf. read more
On behalf of Devizes Kats & Kits in Care, I would like to thank everyone who has already joined our new 100 Club. Your kind support is valued immensely, and will help fund the essential lifelong needs of ex-feral and special needs cats that society deems unhomeable. read more
If, as suggested in last week's Gazette and Herald, the partnership between Wiltshire Police and the Great Western Ambulance Service does come to an end, it will be a sad day indeed for the county and the ambulance service will have a great deal to answer for. read more
At a recent court hearing, a Judge said that, as I claimed the community was behind me in the case for Savernake Minor Injuries Unit, I should put my money where my mouth was. He gave me a Protected Costs Order of £20,000. read more
Now in retirement after together working for over 60 years for Wiltshire schools, we were concerned to read of the county's proposal to merge Urchfont and Upavon schools. read more
How ironic that, having disposed of half its pitches, St John's School should invite a distinguished footballer to inaugurate the new development. I wonder if the manager of the England youth team has been informed that the turf he is cutting will no longer be available for training young footballers. read more
May I thank all those who responded to the item in your paper on April 10 and have donated comfort items for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. read more
Mr Justice Holman wants to see the proof that the people of Marlborough are supporting Val Compton's heroic struggle to save our hospital. He has capped her liability at £20,000. read more
I feel that I must defend Mrs King in her quest to have the likes of Robbie Hayter removed from the Letters pages of the Gazette. There are far too many such letters, doing nothing but provoking discussion and debate, from such people. read more
So the Wiltshire Air Ambulance is likely to be based at Filton and it will no longer be available at night, unlike the present service, run from Devizes. read more
