    I would like to thank everyone for the support 1st Calne Scout Group was given for the Christmas card delivery service. We delivered 2,768 cards and received £573.66 for group funds. read more

  • Grateful for the help

    My wife and I are aged 87 and 86 and both disabled. On New Year's Eve my wife fell, in her bedroom, at around 2am, and shouted for help. I was unable to assist and dialled 999. Less than half an hour later a very young paramedic arrived from Chippenham and lifted her, carefully checking every movement and response, and got her safely back into bed. read more

  • Great service 24/7

    I have just arrived home from a delightful Christmas in a delightful part of the country. I must comment on the pleasant manner of all the shop staff in Corsham. I have a mobility problem, and they waited patiently while I fumbled around. This was at a hectic time! read more

  • Did not speak to MP

    It is a shame that MP James Gray did not read my letter to you (December 27) with a little more care. If he had done so he would have ascertained that I did not in fact speak to him at all during the unpleasant journey that we shared from Paddington to Chippenham on December 15. In fact my letter merely described the exchanges that I saw take place in the first class carriage between him and other passengers. read more

  • Fed up with criticism

    Has Peter Simmonds considered that the reason members are leaving the Conservatives' North Wiltshire Association in droves is because of the vendetta he and other members appear to be waging against James Grey and that people are fed up with it. read more

    Peter Simmonds (letters, January 3) states that disenchanted members are leaving North Wiltshire Conservative Association in droves'. Simmonds is, I believe, an ex-Parliamentary lobbyist trained to fan the flames with words. read more

    THE article in last week's Gazette 6X loses some appeal' painted a one-sided picture of a Wadworth tenancy agreement, and the anonymous tenant's assertion that "morale among Wadworth tenants has never been lower" does not apply to our own tenancy. read more

    When we moved to Marlborough we had three Post Offices in town to use. The population has doubled in the 41 years we have lived here, but next year we will enjoy the services of just one office. read more

    On behalf of the 52 elderly guests entertained to a magnificent dinner party at the Marlborough Christmas Day lunch, I would like to thank all the generous benefactors who provided the wherewithal to stage this wonderful event. Without these donations, it would not take place on this scale. read more

    Re: Closures a huge blow to community' (letters, December 27) I wish to clarify that the BBC, not the Government, decided to transfer the contract for over-the-counter TV licensing services from the Post Office to PayPoint. read more
