  How many of us feel like life is all work and no play? Sadly for many children like 16-year-old Goodson who I met in Malawi, they have very little chance to play and are often forced to care for their younger brothers and sisters. Goodson lost his parents to Aids. He now looks after his two younger sisters. read more

  I write with total disgust about the council tax in North Wiltshire. Today I received a reminder that my council tax had not been paid. read more

• From wrecks to riches

  One of my first experiences when I moved to this area over 15 years ago was to watch a performance by the Major Wrecks. The temperature was over 95 degrees and sweat was running through the make-up on the faces of men of all shapes and sizes as they entertained the pupils, parents, staff and friends at Rowdeford during the annual school fete. read more

  Ken and Judy would like to thank their family, friends and neighbours for all their help and contributions towards the Dorothy House Hospice tea party on Sunday. read more

• Shop’s great service

  We are dismayed to hear that the T4 camera shop has to close, primarily due to a rent increase. read more

• Birthday cash boost

  I would like to use the letters page to thank everybody who so kindly contributed a donation to my nominated charity, Kennet Citizens Advice Bureau, to celebrate my recent birthday. We have raised £167 so far and donations are still coming in. read more

  It would appear that my recent letter about the old, now defunct, pubs in Devizes has become the subject of some differences of opinion amongst the more elderly members of the town's drinking fraternity. read more
