  • Good times ahead for resurgent Box

    Chippenham Sunday League Premier Division The good days look as if they have returned to Box Rovers, as the winners of 2002 premier division title sit proudly on top of the table for the first time in four years. The top flight of the Robson Taylor, Chippenham League has been all about Corsham Centre in the past couple of seasons but if Rovers have at last rediscovered the form that saw them crowned champions in 2002 then this seasons race for silverware might not be as one sided as people expect it to be. Rovers entertained Bradford News and although the newsmen held out for 20 minutes once Sam Lye came up from the back and curled home a fine strike from 30 yards, Rovers took control of proceedings to run out 7-0 victors. Pete Tye added number two, with Ben Sammut, corner being helped in by Dominic Sims to make it 3-0 and kill the game off by half time. Jamie Harrison was on target with number four and Liam Fullham hit the target for Rovers before Harrison struck two further goals to complete his hat trick. With 20 minutes remaining it was looking as if Rovers would reach double figures, but as with the opening 20 minutes of the first period Rovers failed to find the mark, but by then they had claimed a second win on the trot which was good enough to take them to the top of the pile. read more
