The results of the recent district council elections have shown that democracy is alive and well in North Wiltshire. The turnout was high and the campaign relatively mature and civilised. read more
Chippenham Area Community Partnership is delighted that its first newsletter in March created such interest and comment, the latter mostly positive. Apathy is the greatest enemy of democracy and destroyer of community life. read more
We are now about half way through the 16 weeks of essential' roadworks on Bath Road in Devizes. My observations on the work so far are that there must be some other definition of essential of which I am unaware. read more

In reply to Are They Worthy?' (letters, May 3), there are indeed some arrogant politicians but very few at councillor level. There are Responsibility Allowances and Travelling Expenses but nothing for loss of earnings. I can assure you that it costs the working man money to become a councillor which is why a high percentage of councillors are retired. read more
