  AT the risk of sounding unpopular, I do feel that the closure of Hygrade Foods in Westmead Lane is a Godsend. read more

  THE furious mum who objected to being clamped seems to have been let off, by you, very lightly. The sympathetic and prominent article you published on her behalf made me furious too. read more

• Goldiggers chaos

  WITH reference to the development of the Goldiggers site. The area has been enclosed, lorries are off-loaded from the highway, the footpath has been removed, numerous vans and cars park alongside Timber Street and Wood Lane. read more

• Tree as roundabout

  THERE has been much correspondence, liaison meeting, discussions, a petition and now a television news item on the Cocklebury Road tree. It is also now known that there are likely to be 250 or more houses to be built on part of the Market site. read more

• Pleas went unheeded

  MAY we take this opportunity through your column to express our sincere thanks to all our friends, neighbours, acquaintances and almost complete strangers for their help,understanding and compassion during the traumatic events of last Thursday in the Triangle. read more

  I WRITE to draw your attention to the way in which Kennet District Council appears to be flouting its own Local Plan. read more

• Heed traffic danger

  I AM amazed, to say the least, that 21 houses are being considered for Honeystreet which stands in an area of outstanding natural beauty. read more

• No to development which will swamp hamlet

  IN 2003 the would-be developers of the Honeystreet Mill site submitted a plan for 16 homes. Most agreed some development was necessary, but asked the developers if they could reduce the number of dwellings to ten or fewer. read more

• Keep politics out of sport

  MAY I join with everyone else in offering Shelley Rudman congratulations on her marvellous achievement at the Winter Olympics. read more
