• Town is brighter

  I would like to say thank you to Tim Smith and his companions for all their hard work in organising and raising the money to provide Marlborough with a wonderful display of Christmas lights. read more

  So often nowadays we read of bad news about our hospitals - long waiting lists, poor service, poor food, too many chiefs, not enough workers etc. May I add to the debate by adding my comments? read more

• Photos miss point

  Your Wiltshire from the Air supplement in the Gazette and Herald for November 23 was innovative and could have been valuable. read more

• Bollards are needed

  With all these new houses being built in London Road in Devizes, please put some bollards at the top of Quakers Walk, because, believe me, it will be used as a shortcut to town. I've seen it all before. read more

• Good start to Xmas

  I am writing to congratulate the Gazette and Herald for organising the children's choir event in Marlborough last week. read more

• An alternative view

  I attended the Marlborough Remembrance Day service. I did not hear Mrs Holden preaching pacifism and I certainly did not hear her saying that "we were the bad guys". read more

• African experience

  I Have just returned from Gunjur in the Gambia. Gunjur has been linked with Marlborough for the last 24 years and I went to explore further the unique relationship that exists between our two communities. read more

• Take part in trial

  Recently, while crossing the road between Sainsbury's and Nixon and Shaw in Devizes, I fell, nearly crushing my six-day-old son. read more

• River project success

  Thanks to the people in Marlborough who picked up the telephone and voted to Reclaim our River'. We are excited to have won £50,000 of lottery money, and look forward now to starting work on the river at Priory Gardens and planning a great arts event for summer 2007. read more

• Evening in memory

• Levy unfair as debt incurred by others

  As Jill Crooks reported last week, Wiltshire PCT is forecasting a deficit of at least £22.6 million this year. read more

• Canal users should pay

  Many readers will, like me, have sympathy for Brian Poulton and his fellow canal enthusiasts who fear that DEFRA's 10 per cent cutback on maintenance subsidies for established canals like the Kennet and Avon will result in their falling into disrepair. read more
