• Safe play in all weathers

  Youngsters can now play safely out of doors, thanks to the installation of a new all-weather surface at Lea Pre-School. The play area, which cost around £5,000 has special features such as a climbing frame, and bricks for building and den making. read more

• Call to air health plans

  MAYOR Jacky Martin wants future plans for Malmesbury's new health centre to be made public. Work on the new £6m health centre on the existing Malmesbury hospital site is scheduled to start next September and be completed in late 2007. read more

• Hospital's minor injury unit set to close

  MALMESBURY Hospital's minor injuries unit will close tomorrow, December 9, at 5pm. Kennet and North Wiltshire Primary Care Trust is closing the unit due to a shortage of nurses there and at Chippenham Hospital. read more

• Car taken in house burglary

  Burglars raided a property in Hullavington stealing a lap-top computer and a wallet, as well as house and car keys before escaping with the householder's BMW car. read more

• Town hall to be taken on by local committee

  APRIL 1 2006 will launch a vibrant new era in Malmesbury when the town council takes over the town hall, according to town councillor John Lawton. read more

• Christmas trial offer for CCTV cameras

  A trial CCTV scheme could be implemented in Malmesbury during the Christmas and New Year period. Malmesbury Town Council has received a free offer from local company Brio Technology to mount a camera on the hall, overlooking the Cross Hayes car park. read more

  Two Norton landlords are over the moon about winning a pair of prestigious awards from the Good Pub Guide 2006. Charles Walker and Tiggi Wood run The Vine Tree pub, on the Foxley Road in Norton. read more

• Pupils' cutting edge at store

  Somerfield has launched a newly refurbished one million pound store in Malmesbury. The Gloucester Road store-, which will create 18 jobs was opened to the public yesterday. read more

  Plans for more outdoor seating at The Smoking Dog pub have been rejected by district councillors after complaints from Malmesbury residents. read more
