A CHANCE to shadow Swindon Advertiser chief sports writer Jon Ritson for a day is up for grabs tomorrow on GWR FM.

The auctioned prize is part of a Christmas Appeal for the GWR Community Trust and starts at 8am.

Every year the radio station uses various moneymaking activities to boost the coffers of voluntary and charity groups in Swindon and Wiltshire.

The festive fund-raising activities include an auction for special items that money cannot buy.

Among 500 other prizes there will be a signed Robbie Williams Port Vale football shirt and tickets to see Little Britain Live in Cardiff, with transport and accommodation included.

GWR's Community Trust manager Rachel Addis said: "We will be auctioning things that cannot normally be bought or are usually too expensive. It's all just very exciting."

The trust looks to distribute proceeds to groups working for educational growth, providing relief for those in poverty and sickness and improving the lives of those with disabilities.

It will also be possible for businesses and individuals to sponsor airtime, or, contribute an hour's salary.

And starting this year listeners will be able bid via text message with the new Speed Sales option.

The appeal raised £52,000 last year and has raised £3.32 million since the trust became a registered charity in 1986.
