Shrewton 2, Westbury United 2 (Westbury win 4-3 on penalties)

WESTBURY United boss Paul Brickley has urged his side to keep their focus on the league after watching them progress into the second round of the Les Phillips Cup on Saturday.

Two penalty saves from Nick Evans allowed Wayne Wheeler to slot home the decisive kick and set up a second-round tie against local rivals Devizes.

Brickley's young side showed character to come from behind twice and he is hoping for more of the same in tomorrow's Toolstation League Division One match at Cadbury Heath.

They then entertain Portishead on Tuesday night with Brickley hoping their league record of just one defeat continues a while longer.

He said: "Winning in cup competitions is all very well but as far as I am concerned the league is our priority.

'The spirit we showed to come back on Saturday was very encouraging.

"We have done it a few times now and the team morale is perhaps better than ever."

Shrewton dominated the first 45 minutes on Saturday but a mixture of wasteful finishing and inspired goalkeeping from Evans meant Westbury went into the break with just a one-goal deficit.

Immediately after the restart Lee Morgan levelled for the visitors and Westbury went on to dominate but, like Shrewton in the first half, failed to capitalise on their dominance.

In the first half of extra-time, Shrewton edged ahead again but with time running out Tom Evans' 35-yard strike forced penalties.

Brickley said: "We were woeful in the first half but we did well to come back."
