MISCHIEVOUS mice caused a squeak down at Lydiard House. As part of half-term activities for children this autumn Lydiard House held a hide and squeak trail.
Hidden within the seven staterooms of the neo-Palladian Georgian mansion ten little plastic mice lay waiting to be found.
Families travelled from all over the south west to take part in the trail that captured the imagination of children and parents alike.
Museum assistant Trudy Evans said: "It has been really good fun. Their faces just light up when they find the mice.
"It's not easy, the mice are small and the rooms are very big but when the children have done it they each receive a certificate to let them know how well they've done."
Families have been turning out in force to enjoy the Palladian decoration, coved ceilings and 17th Century portraiture throughout the house.
"Children go around with a clipboard and trail sheet as quietly as they can so not to frighten the mice away. It's lovely to see," said front of house assistant, Maria Bastin.
The house and museum open daily from 10am until 5pm and 2pm until 5pm on Sundays.
The search for the rebellious rodents cost £1 and included a congratulatory certificate.
