Digger drama

A THIEF leapt from a moving tractor in a desperate attempt to evade capture. The man was spotted by police driving the 7.5 tonne Caterpillar tractor on the A350, near the Hampton Park roundabout, at 1.16am last Saturday.

After hearing the police sirens, the thief panicked and leapt from the vehicle, which rolled at 20mph towards oncoming traffic it eventually came to a stop 100 yards down the road.

The tractor was reported missing from a construction site in Bratton.
