Saints' hopes are blunted

TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: Frome Town Sports beat North Bradley Saints 4-3. With Broughton Gifford and Rudloe already excluded from this competition Division 1 leaders North Bradley Saints must have fancied their chances of winning the cup for the first time.

They started confidently with the front line well led by Tom Pang. They took a 3-0 lead by the break and the result seemed a foregone conclusion.

But Frome had other ideas and a well taken penalty in the second half led to a spirited fight back. They took a deserved lead close to the end. In a frantic last-ditch attempt to force extra time, Saints had a goal disallowed for off-side and being shocked by the scoreline lost their composure and two of their players were sent-off.

Deverills returned to winning ways with a comprehensive 5-2 win over Hilperton. They overcame an early scare when the visitors scored with a well headed strike from a corner. The home side took 30 minutes to get into their stride and equalised through Aaron Stevens. Two more from Simon Reaney gave Deverills a deserved lead. Hilperton kept the home team at bay for 20 minutes before Stevens scored his second.
