Time for bite!

IFFY ONUORA is working overtime to try and add a tigerish ball-winning midfielder who will provide some extra 'bite' ahead of Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town.

The manager revealed he has irons in the fire both at Championship level and in League One and although he has a wish list, he is far from having any deal nailed down.

Onuora was watching Reading against former club Sheffield United last night in the Carling Cup, a competition he now has cause to bless as a manager.

He said: "You get so much more from these games than watching a reserve match that seems more like a testimonial at times."

While a striker is still a key priority, especially with Rory Fallon suspended for Saturday, Onuora feels there is something missing in the centre of the park.

He said: "I think we've lacked a little bit of bite, someone who loves a tackle, breaks things up and maybe keeps things simple.

"It's having that physical presence, that ball-winner type. We need the ball to play. At times on Saturday we gave the ball away far too cheaply.

"But at times, we didn't have the ball enough because we didn't win the ball enough."

New addition or not, there is glimmer of hope on the midfield horizon for Onuora though.

Stefani Miglioranzi came through a tough session yesterday after being sidelined since the defeat by Bradford City last month.

Onuora said: "If Stef's fine then he comes into contention. I'd like to have that option.

"He's another one who has to be 100 per cent in mind and body before he's right.

"We've trained very hard on Tuesday and we'll see how he comes through it.

"There was a thought in the back of my mind that he could play in the Wiltshire Premier Shield game but he didn't think he was ready for that. We respected that, told him to come in for a tough session and to see how he reacted."

As for strikers, Onuora said: "I've still a few names in my mind that I am trying to chase up this week."
