Oak tree planting and art exhibition for world's peace

AS part of the ongoing celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Faringdon Peace Group, this Sunday at 3pm the group will be planting an oak tree for peace in the town's Folly Park.

This is followed by an art exhibition the next day on Monday at Friends Meeting House in Lechlade Road, Faringdon by young people from the town.

The exhibition is called A Foot in the Past, A Hand in the Future.

A display of memorabilia photographs and posters from the group's 25 years of peace activities in the town, nationally and internationally will run alongside the exhibition.

The same evening in the same venue at 8pm there will be a public meeting and a talk.

The talk will be called "Terrorism and War The London Bombings and Iraq What Can We Do?" and will be given by author and guest speaker Milan Rai, pictured, from the Justice not Vengeance organisation. To round off the month's celebrations there is a Grand Barn Dance at Faringdon Junior School on Saturday 29 October from 7.30pm. The band is Between The Acts with caller Derek Kingscote.

The evening kicks off at 7.30 pm and tickets are £5 and £3 for children and are still available by calling 01367 710308.
