Wootton Bassett crashed out of the Powergen Intermediate Cup on Saturday at the hands of higher- league opponents Keynsham.
It was the Bristol visitors, a league above Bassett in South West Division 2 East, who drew first blood after only five minutes with a try out wide.
The Wiltshire side conceded another try in the opening 10 minutes but began to settle after this and put together some promising moves through the threequarters.
The final pass eluded them, however, and the only other scores of the half came from two Keynsham penalties for an 18-0 lead at the half-time break.
The second half started with Keynsham holding the upper hand once again and two quick converted tries extended their lead to 32-0.
To their credit, the Southern Counties South side responded and their consolation try came with 15 minutes to go, winger Mike Dixon diving over in the corner.
Keynsham had the final say, however, as they capped their victory with another converted try.
Elsewhere, Devizes continued their recent good run by defeating Amersham & Chiltern 30-12.
The win, though, was tarnished by an injury to Darren Burbridge, who had to be stretchered from the field with a knee injury in the 20th minute.
In a meeting of Southern Counties South and North leagues, Devizes ran out winners thanks to tries from Fijiian Nav, Craig Hurcombe, Tom Reed and Charlie Rudley, with Andy Reed kicking the balance of points with two penalties and two conversions.
There was no joy for Swindon in their meeting with St Mary's at Greenbridge Road.
The Bristol-based South West Division 2 West side ran out 49-15 winners.
