Family firms soar

THREE Wiltshire companies are named in a list of the UK's top 250 biggest mid-market private businesses.

A Malmesbury-based vacuum cleaner maker came 28th. Dyson boasts 21 per cent of the US market and employs 1,420 staff.

The company also came seventh in the top 10 companies with the biggest profit £43m.

Swindon car dealer the Dick Lovett Group made it in to the top 100 and is 98th in the midmarket section across the country.

As with James Dyson, and his family company Dick Lovett is owned by Peter Lovett and family.

Toy retailer the Early Learning Centre, also based in the town, came 152nd in the annual list.
