Police praise hero who caught two burglars

Police cars were called to Bath Road Picture: Ref: 99738-81POLICE thanked a workman who chased after two burglars who struck at a house in Old Town.

The man was working at the terrace house in Bath Road at 2.20pm yesterday when he discovered the intruders.

A man and a woman fled the address but were pursued by the worker.

After a short chase, two people were detained until police arrived shortly afterwards.

WPC Sam O'Donoghue, of Swindon Police, said: "It was good work by a member of the public."

A local man and woman were being held in custody, awaiting interview.
