Beefy hero gives shoppers a tasty offer

Scotch Beef's Hunky Glenn with Sainsbury's customers Anne and Antonio di Salvo Ref: 99724-100Shoppers at Sainsbury's got more than they bargained for yesterday when they were greeted by a man in a kilt.

Hunky Glenn, also known as James Grant, from the Scotch Beef adverts, was in the Bridgemead store to extol the virtues of British beef.

The highland hero, who has women across the country swooning, spent all day in the store.

Store manager Bob Upshall said the kilt, and the man in it, had gone down a treat with customers.

"It was a bit of fun and it went really well. The customers got to have a bit of fun and they got a bit of information about British beef as well."

The promotion comes at a time when the EU is set to allow more British beef exports after a favourable report on BSE prevention measures in the UK.

And Mr Upshall is confident British beef is best.

He said: "We're very much into promoting British beef. It's a really good quality product and people do want to buy British."
