I try, why can't the dustmen?

I HAVE followed the letters regarding the introduction of wheelie bins in West Swindon. with some interest.

These have been in use in Berkshire for years and were a welcome facility for me, if not everyone's cup of tea.

The recycling is a great idea too. However, I have just watched in amazement at the antics of the collector this morning.

I take the trouble to wash and remove the labels from all my bottles, jars and cans. I segregate glass from cans and newspapers in my nice orange box and put it in at the end of my garden.

So why is the box just thrown across the pavement, yards from my garden where, if not picked up, it gets kicked up the road?

Surely, the collector could return it to the garden he took it from, even if he can't be bothered to replace the lid?

The same thing happens with the wheelie bins. I wheeled my bin back to my garden before realising it wasn't the bin I clean out after each collection, but one complete with maggots! My bin is labelled with my address.
