The competition is now in its 11th year and gets bigger annually.

This year the impressive roll of sponsors includes several new names.

The Federation of Small Businesses and the Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce have joined Dyson, NatWest, Virgin Mobile, Veale Wasbrough lawyers, Definitive Consulting, Target Consulting, BBC Radio and Newsquest.

So far there has been a record number of entries in at an early stage, and although entry does not close until Friday, November 25, it is hoped that most people will enter early. Organiser Clare Hamilton-Eddy said: "Winning these awards brings significant benefits such as a higher profile and prestige and a sales and marketing boost. I'd encourage everyone to enter."

There are categories that suit every type of business, whatever size, including sections for entrepreneurs, business culture and training.

After the first round of judging there is a cocktail party at the De Vere Hotel in West Swindon supported by the University of Bath, and the gala dinner finale is in February.
