The Crown 0, The Plough 3

THE eagerly awaited Division Four game between The Crown FC and Plough lived up to all the hype.

The Plough took the game to the Crown with some excellent flowing football, and they made their early pressure tell as Dave Thomas got on the scoresheet with only four minutes played as he got on the end of Ross Pike's precise cross.

The Plough's second arrived on 20 minutes. After a Crown attack broke down, Plough's Mark Reynolds picked up the ball and laid a neat pass on to Jamie Reeves, who pulled it back for Darren Hall to finish low into the bottom right hand corner.

After the break, a mix up at the back between Chris Brady and keeper Aaron Harford saw Nick Harford somehow put the ball over the bar from two yards out.

An effort from Adam Bewley was the only time Crown really tested Harford, with his defence bullying the two strikers in the air.

Plough's third and final goal came in the 60th minute and saw goalscoring machine Thomas net his ninth of the season before he begins a ban.

A freekick from Kevin Hammarsley whistled over the bar from 40 yards and Rob Mitchell, Jason Lucas and Nick Harford all went close to pulling a goal back for the Crown.

Plough almost made it four when the ball fell to the feet of Mark Reynolds who hit a thunderous shot that flew an inch the wrong side of the post for the visitors.

This was nowhere near either side's best performance, but the Bradford-based team did the job and took the two points back home with them.
