CORSHAM Town were unlucky to lose for the second week in succession at table-toppers Frome Town on Saturday.
Corsham could not have dreamt of a worse start with Dean Griffiths being fouled in the area in just the second minute and Matt Peters tucking away the resulting spot kick.
Corsham began to find their footing before a cross from Brad Peters after 23 minutes saw Dave Hopkins almost head into his own net.
However the visitors began to dominate the game in the second half and Frome goalkeeper Ali Hines had to make a fine reaction save to deny Jerad O'Pray after 65 minutes before Jamie Lyons' acrobatical effort after 73 minutes went just wide.
O'Pray looked certain to score with 15 minutes left as he found himself one-on-one with Hines but a brilliant last ditch tackle from Matt Peters denied the former Westbury United man just as he was about to shoot.
Brad Peters was the next to see a chance go begging as he combine with Mark Salter before side footing his shot wide from ten yards with just Craig Chaplin to beat.
Frome doubled their lead with five minutes to go when Brad Peters released substitute Ross Plain down the right and his pin-point cross found Griffiths who headed past Chaplin as Corsham pushed forward for an equaliser.
With time almost up Corsham pulled a goal back from a 25-yard Hopkins free-kick but it was not enough to stop Andy Crabtree enjoying a winning start to his reign in charge of Frome Town.
Corsham boss Colin Bush refused to be downhearted. "We were a big scalp for them. They were absolutely delighted. We played really well and we just need a little bit of luck to go our way," he said.
