A TOBY Colborne hat-trick blew away any talk of an early season slump as he helped Corsham Town to a 4-1 home win over Keynsham Town on Tuesday night.
It is testament to Corsham of how far they have come in such a short time that two losses in succession sparks talk of a mini-crisis.
Manager Colin Bush had told his players that a scrappy 1-0 win would do but instead saw his side dominate for a three-goal victory at Southbank which moved his side up to seventh in the Toolstation Premier Division.
Colborne's first goal came midway through the first half when he snuck onto the end of a Dave Hopkins free kick.
Earlier his strike partner Jerad O'Pray almost opened up his personal account, when he found space and chose to shoot rather than pass, but saw his shot was blocked.
Corsham went into the break on level terms after Keynsham equalised late in the first half but after a few words from Bush the home side played some neat attacking football with Colborne again pouncing from substitute John Eldred's cross on 65 minutes.
As the game became more stretched Colborne headed in his third goal before Jack Cullis scored Corsham's fourth.
Corsham boss Bush was delighted for his striker.
He said: "To be fair it was a good hat-trick as well. Two headers and a clinical finish. It was good to see him back on it.
"Now we need to get Jerad scoring. They have both played well and as a striker they will back themselves.
"Jerad had a couple of half chances and it is just a time you have to stand up for yourself and it will happen for you."
Bush could have more striking options with Scott Evans returning to the club after leaving Biddestone.
Although only announcing his intentions to play for Corsham Town's reserve side Bush believes the striker should consider first team football.
He added: "Scotty has signed on for the reserve side.
"He's on holiday at the moment so I have not had any correspondence with him but if he is definitely coming back we are going to have to take a look.
"Then may be we can talk to Leo (Biddestone boss Graham Learmonth), put in a seven-day and sort something out.
"He came back on his own freewill but I don't see any point playing reserve team football unless you want to make the first team."
Corsham face Barnstaple Town at Southbank on Saturday, a game Bush expects to win.
"It was ridiculous. We had two games where we didn't win and people were saying we were in a slump.
"We have won now and we are on home soil so I expect us to win again," said Bush.
