Hot Coles on fire

AN amazing Division One game at Coleshill United saw the home side 4-1 ahead with 15 minutes to go against table-toppers Lambourn Sports with goals from Christian Ayres (2), Gary Sutton and Matthew Bugden.

Lambourn then scored four times in eight minutes to go 5-4 in front, before Sutton and Andy Lynham turned it around again to give Coleshill victory a 6-5.

Lambourn's Adrian Mooney saw a red card in those final few minutes while their scorers were Chris Prior, Toby Kimber, Gareth Brown, Rob Clark and Marc Fletcher .

Saxton Rovers went back to the top following a 2-0 home win over East Hendred, thanks to goals from Kevin Giddings and James Hawthorne.

Two goals from Oliver O'Hanlon kept Ardington & Lockinge's good run going as they moved into second place with a 2-1 win over neighbours Grove Rangers. Chris Whitworth scored for Grove.

Wes Costar (2), Andy Smith (2) and Ben Sutton netted for Blewbury as they gained their first points of the season with a 5-1 victory against Marcham.

Division Two leaders Harwell Village made short work of Saxton Rovers Reserves to maintain their 100 per cent record after five games. Goals from Mark Stock, Tom Fisher, Matty Aplin, Neal Smith, an own goal and Adam Rouse gave Harwell a 6-1 win.

Appleton (Abingdon) moved into second place after a 9-1 thrashing of Long Wittenham Athletic. Tim Cruttendon hit three, with further goals from Steve Roberts (2), Mike Yardley, Andy Cooper, Gary Wilson and Jim Sherwood.

Division 3 leaders Wootton & Dry Sandford saw off Stanford-in-the- Vale 5-0, with strikes from Wayne Morton (3), Nick Ridge and Mark Loveridge.

Blewbury Reserves went second after their 3-2 win at Benson Lions.

Gary Fenton (2) and Roger Crook scored for Blewbury with Andy Gibson and Carl Watkins for the Lions.

In Division Four, Crowmarsh Gifford tasted defeat for the first time as they lost 3-2 at Challow United despite goals from Sam Dorn and Jake Rogers.

Botley United were not at their best but took over at the top following a 3-0 win over Bampton & Buckland Reserves, with goals from Kieran Ellis (2) and Adam Bickford.

Didcot Casuals Reserves remain level on points with Wootton Reserves in Division Five, after they beat Hanney United Reserves 4-0 thanks to Iain Williamson, Wayne Fleming and Shane Matthews and an own goal.

Two wonder strikes from the outstanding Neil Sutton enabled Shrivenham A to come from behind to beat holders AFC Wallingford A 2-1 in the first round of the AG Kingham Cup.

Wallingford went ahead on 20 minutes when Paulo Di Pasquale volleyed home from close range

Shrivenham hit back quickly though when Sutton hit an unstoppable shot into the top right corner from 25 yards out.

Sutton should have put Shrivenham ahead on 50 minutes when through but his weak shot was diverted wide by Simon Blomfield in the Wallingford goal.

Blomfield was equally relieved to see a free-kick from Sutton clip the crossbar and a Liam Humphreys' shot go just wide, as Shrivenham started to get on top.

Then on 73 minutes, with little apparent threat, Sutton let fly from 30 yards to send the ball flying over Blomfield and into the net for the winner.

In other ties, Mark Smith was in the right place to get the winner for East Hendred Reserves in a 2-1 win over Steventon Reserves.

Earlier, Garry Hendry had opened the scoring for Hendred before Steventon equalised.

Faringdon Town Reserves went through 4-2 against Grove Rangers Reserves, with goals from Troy Redman (2), Lee Moss and Andy Dunbar.

Long Wittenham Reserves needed penalties to progress against Challow Reserves after a 4-4 score after extra-time.

In the Oxfordshire Junior Shield, Bampton & Buckland defeated Milton Under Wychwood 4-2 with Steve Hissey, Steve Holder, Nicky Basson on target to add to an own goal.
