Brave cup showing from under 15s

WOOTTON Bassett Under 15s put up a much improved showing against Wiltshire champions Salisbury at Ballards Ash despite falling to a 29-11 defeat.

Having shipped 50 points to their rivals in their last meeting, it was a different story this time around.

Fly-half Oli Stavrakakis kicked a couple of penalties and Bassett had the final say as winger Mike Ainsworh tore through the Salisbury defence to score a consolation try.

n THE under 15s held a successful fundraising event, with help from sponsors Rapid Hire and Arrow Tyres, raising £477.50 towards the Easter 2006 tour.

n TRISTAN Cotterill scored twice as Bassett under 14s thrashed their Supermarine counterparts 46-10.

Seven players got on the scoresheet, Cotterill opening the scoring before adding another later on.

Wing Josh Rapson, Sam Robinson, Harry Scott, captain Daniel Norcross, scrum-half Billy Johnson and Tom Shelton also crossed, Mike Farage converting three of the tries.

n SWINDON Under 13s turned in an excellent performance as they defeated Reading 26-5.

Tyler Rousse and Ben Hornby's solo effort put them ahead in the first half and two late tries for Luke Dicks and Sam Jones crossed in the second half.

Chris Blackwell kicked three conversions.

SUPERMARINE under 10s suffered double defeat in their encounter with Devizes.

Despite losing the first encounter 5-0, Jonathan De Vose performed well for the losers.They lost the second 1-0.

In contrast, the under nines picked up two wins, 5-1 and 1-0. Chris Little scored three tries, Sean Rees with two, Adam Bartlett the other scorer.

The under eights were beaten 6-3 and 4-1.
