JAMES Lye believes Calne Town's luck might have turned after picking up their first Toolstation Premier Division home win of the season on Saturday.
The Lillywhites' striker took advantage of a slip by Willand defender Jack Martin after a horriffic bobble to volley the hosts into a second half lead.
After little luck in front of goal all season, the change in fortune seemed to be just what they needed as they settled into their usual passing game and their dominance was rewarded with Lye's second of the game on 71 minutes.
Lye said: "Everyone was very relieved at the final whistle as it was a good feeling to finally get that second win under our belts.
"Nothing has been going for us in recent weeks but my first goal on Saturday was very lucky. I had actually turned away thinking their defender was going to clear it when it bobbled past him and hit me in the groin. I then just hit it first time and it went in.
"The start of this season has been quite frustrating because it seems as though we have hardly played any games compared to the other sides.
"Even in the games we have lost so far we have felt we have played quite well and we are all confident in our ability. Past results have shown anyone can beat anyone in this league and I still think we are capable of a top six finish."
The first half was a scrap with the visitors shading the best of the chances. Calne goalkeeper Chris Astley did well to save DavidSteel's power driver while James Lye vollyed straight at Willand keeper Brian Cann on 30 minutes.
Former Tiverton Town midfielder Steele was Willand's man to watch but a midfield partnership of the tireless Danny Jones and creative Ben Moore nullified his threat for the majority of the preoceedings.
Minutes into the second half, Calne got that slice of luck they craved as Ryan Pratley's left wing cross bobbled past Martin for Lye to lash home the opener.
Calne were now on top and on 71 minutes they made sure of the three points when Jones dispossessed Steele on the halfway line and played a precise ball through into Lye's path, who chipped Cann.
Willand tried to fight back and in injury time Russell Jee struck the post with a 20-yard shot and the same player then watched disconsolately as Astley brilliantly saved his deflected 25-yard free kick.
