WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: GARY Ashford proved to be the match winner for Aldbourne, scoring four of his side's goals in their 6-1 victory over Pewsey in the Corsham Print Senior Cup.
With regular strikers on the sidelines through injury manager Tony Dyer gave the young forward his first start and Ashford took full advantage.
Leading by a goal to nil at the break, the home side took control in the second half with Ashford adding another three and Jimmy Wright and Rob Grey also getting on the scoresheet.
The Aldbourne boss was delighted with the victory and said: "It was a good all round performance. Gary took the opportunity to show us what he could do and I'm very pleased for him.
"We played some good football and fully deserved the chance to go into the hat for the next round."
AFC Trowbridge beat New College 3-0 in a recent league match but the Swindon visitors turned the tables in no uncertain manner running out winners 4-0.
The home side looked like repeating their earlier success in the opening 30 minutes or so but the College clung on and were awarded a fortunate penalty for handball just before the break which was converted by Bradley Gill.
It was a different story after the break as the College grew in confidence and began to play some good football and were rewarded with further goals from Ashley Chapman, Farell Copp and Bradley Gill.
Premier leaders Corsham visited Purton Reserves and came away 4-1 winners.

Melksham Town progressed with a 4-3 win over visitors Devizes, Dan King (2), Dave Macey and Lee Stevenson on target in a closely fought tie.
Westside were in league action and produced their best result of the season so far defeating Marlborough Town 4-0 on their own ground.
With two wins from their last couple of games manager Joe O'Rourke will be thinking of going on holiday again.
"It was a great result and a good welcome back from holiday, the lads played really well and we are all delighted with the result."
Geoff Swatton was on target with a hat-trick, Dave Rendell back from suspension adding a fourth.
Calne found themselves two goals down at Shrewton but fought back to win 3-2 two goals from Ronnie Kallmeier with Darren Legg scoring the winner inside the last ten minutes.
Lower Stratton picked up their first points of the season beating visitors Marlborough Town Reserves with a goal from Dave Turnbull in the last five minutes.
There was plenty of incident in AFC Stratton's 1-1 draw with Westlecot United.
Stratton finished with nine men having had two sent off and the visitors missed a first-half penalty and blasted a second wide in the closing stages. Rich Horner scored the Westlecot goal and Mark Langford replied for Stratton.
