RDA chief to retire

Geoff Wilkinson of the South West of England Regional Development Agency, is retiring at the end of April 2006. Mr Wilkinson, 60 in October, has been chief executive since December 2001.

During this time, the agency's budget has almost doubled with many new areas of work taken on.

RDAs across the country are now established as the primary drivers of economic development in the English regions. Following retirement, Mr Wilkinson will become a non-Executive Director of Finance Cornwall and Finance South West.
