Members of the Moscow State Circus entertained shoppers during a visit to the Designer Outlet Centre Ref: 99469-48GASPS of amazement echoed around the Designer Outlet shopping centre as Russia's strongest man lifted more than 120kg the same as two baby elephants with his teeth.
Once the initial disbelief wore off, the crowds burst into applause for Bakhrom Akhnazarov, one of the acts from the Moscow State Circus, which is in Swin-don this week.
He was joined by other acts including the Rola Burgrova Sisters and Trio Mikheev, as they gave shoppers at the centre a taste of what was on offer.
Vicky Hollis, of Shaw Ridge, was one of the awe-struck shoppers who stopped to watch as Trio Mikheev demonstrated their incredible balancing skills.
"It is absolutely brilliant," said the 37-year-old.
"He must have a very strong forehead to balance the frame and the woman on it. They are truly outstanding."
Paul Archer, manager of the circus, said they were always made to feel welcome in the town.
"We usually have a very positive reaction from the audience in Swindon and we are hoping to get that again," he said.
"It is a fun show that is suitable for all the family."
The circus last came to Swin-don in 2002 and since then has travelled to cities all over the world.
"The key to the success of the circus is bringing to a town like Swindon something of high quality which could be compared to a West End show," said Paul.
All 35 artistes who are performing in the circus have been trained in Moscow.
They go through a vigorous four-year training course, perfecting their act, before a panel of circus veterans judge whether it is good enough to be performed in front of the crowds.
After wowing the crowds in Swindon, on Friday strongman Bakhrom will be in Birmingham pulling a double decker bus using only his teeth.
"A lot of strongmen use harnesses and pull buses along that way, but not Bakhrom," said Mr Archer.
"But he has done it before and as long as it is a flat surface he shouldn't have too many problems."
The Moscow State Circus will be performing at the Westcott Recreation Ground, Wootton Bassett Road, from today until Sunday.
Performances are at 5pm and 8pm weekdays and 2pm and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
