Flowers laid in tribute to Mick Love

Flowers have been laid at the site of Mick Love's murder in Cannon Street. Ref: 99475-58FLORAL tributes have been laid at the spot where a Swindon resident was killed. The family of Mick Love, who was murdered a year ago, left poems and messages at the Cannon Street location where he was killed.

Among the tributes, son Callum wrote: "I miss you, I love you."

And Mr Love's mother wrote: "Taken from us a year ago, you are always in my heart."

As well as moving messages, the lyrics to the Offspring song, Gone Away were inscribed on a card next to the flowers.

Mr Love, a manager at the Dorcan Royal Mail sorting office, was stabbed on his way home from a night out with friends on Monday, September 27, 2005.

Mr Love's sister, who has asked not to be named, says the pain of losing her brother will never fade.

In the early hours of September 27 police were called to Cannon Street after an off-duty policeman spotted Mr Love.

He had been stabbed three times and paramedics were unable to save him.

In August, after a gruelling 11-day trial a jury found Colin Lewin, 35, of Broad Street, not guilty of the murder.

Mr Love's family, who sat through the entire trial, are devastated that no one has been brought to justice for the murder.
