ADVERTISER EXCLUSIVE: IFFY Onuora was expected to be unveiled as the new manager of Swindon Town this afternoon, bringing to an end Andy King's four-year reign as the County Ground boss.
The Swindon Advertiser can reveal that the board of directors have been impressed with Onuora's progress at the club and feel he is the man to take the team forward.
Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Bradford City was the club's fifth consecutive reverse and Town are currently just one place off the bottom of League One.
No-one at the club was prepared to comment this morning, although the board were meeting Andy King to discuss a settlement package.
Should a satisfactory agreement be reached, then the way will be clear for Onuora to take charge in time for Town's match at Carling Cup heroes Doncaster Rovers tomorrow evening.
King has found himself under increasing pressure in recent weeks and frustrations boiled over on Saturday with angry fans gathering outside the club's main entrance to call for both his head and the club's directors.
It is not yet clear how the current coaching structure will change as a result of King's departure from the club.
And the respective positions of coach Ian Woan and assistant manager Alan Reeves will need to be resolved.
If all proceeds as expected the Town job will be Onuora's first managerial position, a role in the game he has made no secret of having ambitions in.
His most senior position to date was as Walsall's first team coach, although he has taken on greater responsibility for first team affairs at the County Ground this season.
