Thunderball Bond girl rolls into town to meet film fans

HUNDREDS of James Bond fans gathered in Swindon to see former Bond girl Mollie Peters make a rare appearance.

Hosting only her third ever signing, Peters looked shaken but not stirred by the excited crowd that gathered at Infinitely Better, the movie memorabilia shop in the Brunel Centre.

The 63-year-old actress, who appeared alongside Sean Connery in the 1965 film Thunderball, signed autographs and spoke to fans from as far away as London and mid Wales.

And visitors were in for a treat, as Peters displayed rare photos from the film set of the 1965 movie.

In Thunderball, Mollie played Patricia Fearing, a masseuse at a health club who is seduced by the British Secret Service agent.

Steve Goss, who arranged the event, said that Mollie was surprised by the welcome she got.

He said: "She was simply overwhelmed.

"She was shocked that so many people had turned out to see her after 40 years."

Next week the memorabilia store will continue its Bond girl theme when Pamela Salem comes to visit.

The actress, who played Miss Moneypenny in the 1983 film Never Say Never Again, also starring Connery, has since appeared on TV in Doctor Who, ER, and the West Wing.
