Pupils' art will be real rubbish

PUPILS in Swindon are being encouraged to turn rubbish into works of art as part of a new recycling initiative being launched by the Greenbridge retail park.

The Keeping It Green competition invites all local primary schools to create artistic masterpieces from everyday rubbish such as bottle tops, cans and crisp packets.

All of the exhibits will be judged on Thursday, October 13 at Broadgreen Centre, on Salisbury Street. Entrants should bring their works of art to the hall for judging to start 4.30pm.

The winner will receive £1,000 for their school and the runner-up £500.

Lionel Dicks, centre manager, said: "I hope the children enjoy being creative and I expect a good time to be had by all."
