I didn't even have a bell!

STORIES like Mark King's makes me furious (SA, Need a nurse? Ring this bell, pages 1-2, Sep 13).

Aspects of care at the Great Western Hospital are inadequate and highly unsatisfactory.

Early last year I spent 10 days on a trolley bed and didn't even have a bell or space for a chair.

I had to rely on the goodwill of the sick to ring for assistance.

Years later nothing has changed and the system remains flawed.

Patients are allegedly given equal treatment but some are luckier than others.

Clearly the hospital is too small and even the afterthought of a new 128 bedded treatment centre has not stopped some people getting second class treatment.

I salute the staff who do their best against all odds.
