No way to treat us disabled

I AGREE with Phil Cambray's letter on Monday September 19, OAPs fined.

I am an OAP with a disabled badge. On a weekend in February 2005, I had parked in a disabled bay displaying my badge and time card in the Granville Street car park. I had squared my VW camper up between the two vehicles that were on each side of me. In so doing I had my two side wheels on the yellow painted lines. This had caused no hinderance whatsoever to any other persons. For this so called offence they fined me £30.

Having had the ticket placed on my vehicle I hung around for ages until a warden arrived on the park.

When I approached her she went straight on the offensive. When one considers that all over town there are many hundreds of vehicles illegally parked on footways and grass verges and, of this, the council do nothing, then the way that they treat their disabled OAPs is downright appalling. I wrote to my MP Mr Wills about this but it made no difference.
