Nick prepares Whites for FA Cup challenge

Salisbury City FC manager Nick Holmes has been preparing his team for a potentially lucrative venture into the FA Cup.

The competition, now in its 125th season, offers rich pickings for non-league sides and Salisbury City stand to bank a further £3,750 should they emerge victorious from their Second Qualifying Round tie against West Country rivals Yate Town.

Holmes is certain to warn his squad, unbeaten so far this term, against the dangers of complacency.

"We know what Yate can do," he told Journal Sport. "And they know what we can do. I don't think either of us will change the way we play.

"We've just got to be ready for what they can throw at us." With injuries and suspensions beginning to take their toll,"

Holmes is hoping City progress at the first time of asking. "You'd always like to beat them straight away. I don't particularly like replays.

"Replays can hurt you because of that extra game some times. We're going to be without Scott Bartlett for the next three games so we've got to sort out what we're going to do about that and get ready for it."

The tie kicks off this Saturday at 3pm. Should either require a replay, it would take place on Tuesday evening, 7.45pm.
