Trowbridge League

APETITO put their poor league form behind them to beat Frome Town Sports A 2-1 in the Fox Leisure UK Ltd of Westbury sponsored Knockout Cup.

A goal from Mark Powell saw them take a 1-0 lead at half-time and Duncan Penelhum added the second before Paul Whitley grabbed Frome's consolation.

Steeple Ashton's dismal form continued with a 5-3 defeat at home to Four Seasons. Ashton had the lead at half-time, thanks to Guy Rowley scoring two with a response coming from Stuart Field, but the second half went Four Seasons' way with two more goals coming from Field to complete his hat-trick and one apiece from Danny Fennell and Danny Thompson. Guy Rowley scored Ashton's third.

FC Northbridge gained a first round place with a 1-0 win over Semington Magpies.

The winning goal came midway through the second half from a corner, headed home by James Starr after Magpies failed to clear. Magpies almost sent the game into extra-time when Stephen Weeks hit the bar from close range in the dying seconds.

A hat-trick from Neil Hanniford was enough for Blue Circle to win the all-First Division clash against Freshford United.

A goal from Daniel Martin saw Hilperton United Reserves take a 1-0 half-time lead, but Bradford hit back with two goals from Chris Sheppard.

With a goal from Dave Carroll (The Stiffs) and one from Shaun Warren (Lavington), at half-time this match looked like it was heading for extra-time, but a second half goal feast saw Lavington win 6-2. Further goals came from Nathan Literick of the Stiffs and Scott Clarke, Miles Hickton, John Paul Chenoweth, Jamie Bayes and Steven House of Lavington.

Third Division leaders AFC Trowbridge Wanderers could not maintain their winning ways against Westbury United A as goals from Matthew Fry and Stuart Barber (penalty) saw the Westbury side through.

In their all-First Division clash against Frome Town Sports, Seend United must have thought that they had done enough after being

2-1 up at half-time, thanks to goals from Lee Jackson and Olli Gee, with Frank Alexander replying.

In the second half another goal from Alexander and then one each for Andy Burns and Luke Stanley saw the Somerset side take the honours.

The Deverills progressed with a 6-0 victory over FC Chippenham. The Deverills took the lead after 10 minutes when Aaron Stevens deflected a shot in. On the half hour Mike Payne scored the second with a strong header from a Matthew Carpenter cross. Chippenham then played their best football of the match and contained the Deverills to a 2-0 lead at the interval.

The Deverills took full control in the second half and Aaron Stevens scored his second with a firm shot from 20 yards and he completed his hat-trick 10 minutes later from the penalty spot. Further goals came from a Michael Payne volley and in the final minutes Scott Gallazi smashed home the sixth from close quarters.

Bradford United's 2-0 win at home against the Lamb Inn came thanks to goals from John Williams and Jack Holdway.

AFC Trowbridge Town Youth Reserves gained revenge for their 4-1 league defeat on the opening day of the season with a 4-1 win over Seend United Reserves.

Leigh Kennedy, Darren Kovaks, Tom Parr and Mark Burrell scored for the winners, with Chris Bishop scoring Seend's consolation.

In Division One Dynamo West End moved to joint leaders with a 3-1 home win over Rudloe. A Trevor Jones goal for Dynamo and an Andy Keo goal for Rudloe saw this match all square at the interval. Adam Gainey and Dan Harvey scored Dynamo's second half goals.

Heytesbury took the spoils in their local derby against Warminster Town Reserves, thanks to a second half goal from Damian Gonzales.

In Division Two Rudloe Reserves beat Hilperton United 5-1. After scoring two goals last week, Luke Wolf continued his goal scoring spree by going one better by netting a hat-trick, one goal coming from the penalty spot. George Bentley also scored two goals. Hilperton were reduced to 10 men after giving away the penalty. Their reply came from a free kick.

St Andrews bounced back from last week's defeat to beat Bratton 2-0, thanks to goals from Mike McGuire and Dan Fowler.

Bradford Town Reserves maintained their unbeaten start In Division Three thanks to a 5-2 win away at Rowde Sports. Robbie Simmons (4) and S Powell were Bradford's scorers, with Jamie Mullins and John Knight on target for Rowde.
