Michael Moore will play the role of Peter Pan's brother, JohnMALMESBURY School pupil Michael Moore, 13, will play Peter Pan's brother, John, at this year's Wyvern Theatre Christmas pantomime.
Michael, from Minety, was given the role last week after auditioning at the theatre.
He will share the part of John Darling with 13-year-old Jonah Cook, from Brinkworth.
Michael, who views Bourne Identity star Matt Damon as his favourite actor, said he was thrilled to have been given the part.
"I've always wanted to be an actor," he said. "We study drama at school. I didn't think I would get the audition. I was very nervous beforehand."
His mother, Karen Moore, was delighted at the news and said Michael was particularly looking forwards to flying.
"He is is very excited and looking forward to his flying lessons. We are all very proud and thrilled," she said.
Michael auditioned for the part on September 9. He had to learn to sing a song, as well as act for three-quarters of an hour.
Mrs Moore said the role required a lot of commitment.
"There is a lot of rehearsing ahead," she said. "It will begin in the middle of November, evenings and weekends, and then it will be most days."
Producer Daryl Black said the flying is done by using a harness. "It works like a pendulum and it takes lots of practising," he said.
