Wroughton Primary School headteacher Susan Pagett with some of her pupils Ref: 99338-9SWINDON...AND PROUD OF IT: CHILDREN at Wroughton Infant School are happy, well behaved and enjoy being in the classroom, according to Ofsted.
Inspectors were more than pleased with what they found at the village school, which has more than 200 pupils aged between four and seven.
The inspection, which took place in June, found that children were happy and enjoyed going to school.
The very good leadership of the headteacher and the "highly positive ethos of the school" came in for particular praise.
It was also congratulated on the effective team of teachers and support staff.
The attitude and behaviour of the children was also described as very good. According to the report, this had a positive impact on their learning.
The teaching was said to be good overall, with good support for pupils with special educational needs.
Headteacher Susan Pagett said the school was thrilled to have received such a positive report from Ofsted.
"We are over the moon with the report," she said.
"We have a lot of inexperienced staff at the school and they all came together, and it is wonderful.
"I am particularly pleased that the report highlighted the pupils' good behaviour as that is something we have worked very hard on.
"It was also nice to see they also focused on the work of the support staff as well as the teaching staff."
And she said the school could not have achieved such a good report without the support of everyone involved.
"We have fantastic support from all the parents at the school as well as the pupils, teachers and support staff.
"We are all absolutely delighted that the school has done so well."
The report said: "Wroughton Infant School provides a good education for its pupils.
"The quality of teaching and learning is good overall which means that pupils make good progress and achieve well.
"The school is always seeking ways in which it can improve further and a good team effort means staff are successful in raising standards."
The report did identify some weaknesses and gave some pointers and advciefor future development.
It said the the school needed to improve its assessment in foundation subjects, such as history, geography, music and art.
It also needed to continue to help other inexperienced members of the team to assess children's work.
