Courier's prices are to stay stable

SWINDON courier firm Road Runners says it will hold its prices, despite the high petrol prices.

Mike McCartney, the managing director, said the company was hanging in there despite fuel prices reaching record levels.

He said: "We learnt some valuable lessons from the last crisis in September 2000 and made some important decisions as a result of this.

"We installed our own fuel storage facility for diesel and LPG and have therefore been able to minimise the effects on the business this time round.

"Our drivers were lucky that they didn't have to join the petrol queues,"

Mr McCartney also confirmed that Road Runners does not intend to pass on the increase in prices to its customers for the time being.

He said: "The recent increase represents a 12 per cent increase in fuel costs and a 25 per cent increase over the last two years and we have had to consider whether we should pass on some of these.

"For the moment we have no plans to do this."
