Kidney recipients take time to celebrate life

TWO Wiltshire people whose lives were transformed by kidney transplants celebrated their 25 years of extra life at a party in London.

David Armitage, from Nythe, Swindon, and Janet Mosley, from Purton, were among the guests of honour at the Celebration of Life on Saturday which marked 25 years since their life-changing operations.

David, who said the gift of his kidney has enabled him to see his two children grow up, was a leading light in the Adver campaign for a kidney dialysis machine for the town.

He was joined by his wife Wendy at the gala dinner and Janet, 38, was accompanied by husband Andy.

The event, held at the Dorchester Hotel, was supported by UK Transplant and The National Kidney Research Fund as well as an organising committee including ITN newsreader Nick Owen

Each year only one in four people get the kidney transplant they so badly need even though a transplant usually only lasts between 11 and 14 years.
