ROTARY clubs across the region are gearing up to support this weekend's Ironman event at Longleat. The swimming, cycling and running event, encompassing 70.3 miles, will be held on Sunday.
Rotary clubs, including Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Warminster, Chippenham Wiltshire Vale, Chippenham Wessex Mead and Frome, will be running the aid stations and manning the car parks.
In addition they will be marshalling the road closures for the event, which starts at 7am.
Competitors will swim 1.2 miles in Shearwater lake, ride 56 miles through Maiden Bradley, Mere and the Deverills and then complete a 13.1-mile run within the Longleat estate.
Road closures will be in effect from 7am, with the C54 south west, from Shearwater lake car park to Horningsham, the C41 from the A350 junction at Longbridge Deverill to the B3092 junction at Maiden Bradley and the B3095 from the A3030 junction at Mere to St Mary's Church, Kingston Deverill, will be sealed off.
Parts of the B3092 and B3095 will be partially closed.
West Wiltshire District Council chief executive Andrew Pate, who recommended Longleat as a venue, will be taking part in the event.
