Full Nelson at libraries

LIBRARIES in west and north Wiltshire will mark the 200th anniversary of Admiral Lord Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar with a series of events across the county.

The Jane Austen Society will be giving a talk about the author's links with the Royal Navy at Calne library on September 28, Bradford on Avon library on October 12 and Westbury library on October 20.

The Colerne Sea Scouts will teach children about nets and knots in Chippenham library on September 24 while Warminster library will play host to singing group Tinker's Bag on October 21. The group will be performing the show A Drop of Nelson's Blood, including sea shanties and stories.

Community librarian Sue Boddington said the events were also linked to the year-long SeaBritain celebrations, which aim to highlight the UK's maritime links.
